(More customer reviews)Years ago, I discovered athletic Skechers, and have never looked back. I only buy Skechers, when in search of athletic shoes. They always fit, they always offer tremendous arch support, and they always wash well...except for this pair. Online, the Livewire Skechers looked like the type of running shoes I usually bought. (Not that I run, mind you.) Instead, they ended up actually being more "athletic inspired" shoes, or like gym shoes. The soles weren't as thick, the arch support not as high. But they were pretty...mine are white and silver...and they looked like they would be nice summer sneakers. And they are in a way, since they are lighter and cooler. But there is a major wash problem. Namely, the mesh on the front and back of the shoes will not come clean. I washed them regularly, especially after rainy days, but they are stained dirt gray. I've used Oxi Clean and Tide Stain Release to no avail. (Although, the Tide Stain Release really made the white leather parts really white!) I'm afraid to try Clorox, for fear the shoes will start coming apart. Actually, the leather is starting to pull off on the front sides, even though they have been worn for only half a year.
I expect more from Skechers. And hope this isn't a sign they are being made in a cheaper manner. But when Fall comes around, I will get new Skechers, and make sure they are actually true athletic types. Hopefully, they will wash well, as all my other Skechers have in the past. If not, I'll be looking for another brand, something I haven't done in a long, long time. :(
